TASMAN AIR-MAIL SERVICE. WELLINGTON, September 7. The possibility of a false impression being created about the inauguration of the trans-Tasman air-mail service was mentioned yesterday by the Postmaster-General (the Hon. F. Jones). He said that while it had been hoped that the service would be inaugurated in November, it was not now possible to say when a regular service would be established, because the outbreak of war had affected this and many other plans which the Government had in view. LONDON, August 17. Mr. Manuel Raymond, who is to form a dance band to play at the Centennial Exhibition, is on his way to New Zealand. He is taking with him two key men, Mr. G. Taylor and Mr. K. D. Woolridge, from his London band, and he will engage a number of players in New Zealand. At the Dunedin Exhibition, Mr. Raymond’s band was exceptionally popular, and since he left the Dominion he has made a name for himself, both, in London and Sydney. He has his own band at Frascati’s, ftr Oxford street, and he has also played at the Hungaria Club and the Ritz Hotel. In Sydney, he played at the Ambassadors.
