I Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 5. The weather report states: —General situation: A series of fast-moving westerly depressions continues to cross the Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Forecast: Winds, west to northwest east of the ranges from Otago northwards; otherwise mainly between west and south-west, the force strong in most districts, with gales still probable in parts of the North Island. Seas in New Zealand waters rough and high on the west coast of the North Island; moderate in coastal waters south of Tauranga; rough elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong west, to south-west winds, reaching gale force at times in the central and northern portions; seas very rough. Weather fair, fine and mild in the eastern districts from Otago to the Bay of Plenty; otherwise cool and changeable, with occasional showers. Some isolated thunder or hail storms are still probable.
