HOKITIKA NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent]. Despite unfavourable weather, together with unsettled conditions abroad, 300 patrons attended the Aero Club’s Concert in the Regent Theatre on Sunday evening. An excellent programme extending for two and a half hours was presented by local and Greymouth artists, together With members of the Victorian Orchestra. Prior to the final chorus of “Little Sir Echo,” presented by Miss Alice McCarthy and members of the Club. Mr. H. T. Lawn, President, thanking the artists for their co-op-eration and the audience for their response, said that over the past few weeks ’ the membership numbers had doubled and with an aim of a membership of at least 250, they knew their campaign was being well received by the public. To those interest- ] ed in the movement, a cordial invitation to be present at the next meet-1 ing on Thursday was extended. He 1 added: “It is gratifying indeed to know that in our attempt to place 1 the Hokitika Aero Club on the aviation map, we have your good Will.” “Our debenture scheme is now under way and it will only be a very short time until you see our hangar and club rooms up and in use on the social side of the Club’s activities.” “When one realises that Hokitika pioneered the Aero Club movement on the West Coast, it is not to be wondered that we are enthusiastic enough to believe that we can once again place it in the forefront of aviation activities on the West Coast.”
