RATES INCREASED

In Grey County Cr. J. Ryall (Chairman), occupied the chair at a special meeting of the Grey County Council yesterday afternoon, when there were also present: Crs J. W. Hannan, J. M. Eadie, H. G. Carter. J. Mulcare, G. Blair, W. Fisher, A. Robinson, A. McDonnell and the Clerk (Miss E. M. Heaphy). The meeting was for the purpose of striking the rates for the year, and the following rates were struck. General rate 3d in the £ on the capital value of all rateable property in each Riding. . The general rate is a rise of. nd in the £ over last year’s rate, but the special rates are unchanged. q'he new rates are payable on September 11. ~ Cr Hannan said that a general rale could be made for the whole County instead of separate rates for each Riding. it would be advisable to do so m time for next year. It would save a large amount of book-keeping, charge had to be made by special order. The Chairman said that the matter could be. kept in mind and brought before the Council at a later date.
