The British Admiralty has authorised the publication of the following message:—"The Meditteranean Sea is, temporan y, closed to British merchant shipping. Ships already in the Mediterranean Sea should continue their voyages. Ships bound into the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean should call at Gibraltar and await orders. Ships in the Red Sea should proceed to Suez or to Aden. Ships bound for the Red Sea from the Indian Ocean should proceed to Aden and await orders. No ships are to visit Italian ports. , . „ Ships leaving the Black Sea are to remain in the Sea of Marmora.”

BRITISH SHIPPING. ORDERED TO LEAVE BALTIC (Received Aug. 29, 12.50 a.m.) LONDON, August 28. The British Admiralty has, temporarily, closed the Mediterranean to British shipping. British shipping has also been ordered to leave the Baltic Sea. The P. and O. line announce that the Strathmore, at present en route to Bermuda, has been recalled.
