WITH POLAND French Proposal Rejected [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] PARIS, August 27. It is officially stated that Herr Hitler has rejected an offer of conciliation made by M. Daladier. This entails the refusal of negotiation with Poland. , .. . The Exchange Agency reports that the War Ministry officially stated Herr Hitler had declared to the French Ambassador that he could not accept M. Daladier’s proposal, that the Polish and German Governments should attempt a pacific settlement of their differences. Hitler and Daladier exchanges of messages. FRENCH SUGGESTION REFUSED.

PARIS, August 27. When M. Coulondre informed M. Daladier of Herr Hitler’s proclamation, M. Daladier immediately sent a message to Herr Hitler, recalling France’s profound attachment to peace, and her fidelity to her engagements publicly contracted with other nations. The Paris correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain says a communique from the Premier’s office announced Herx- Hitler's suggestion, that Germany and Poland should directly negotiate over a Danzig settlement. It is declared that Herr Hitler informed M. Coulondre of it on the afternoon of August 26. The German Charge d’Affaires personally informed M. Daladier to ,that effect, tonight. The communique announced that Kerr Hitler’s message on August 26 declared that he could not tolerate the, existing situation in Poland and deplored that Germans and French blood should be spilt. Following measures he might have to take in order' to settle the situation. M. Daladier replied that no Frenchman had ever done more than he to establish cordial Franco-German relations. He added he himself guaranteed Poland’s dispositions for mutual recourse to methods of free conciliation, and affirmed that no man of feeling could understand how war could break out without at least a new direct attempt at a peaceful arrangement between Germany and Poland.
