“Peace for All Time”

“Peace in our time” is not enough for Women’s Guild members. Let peace for ALL time be our motto. A fight for peace on peaceful lines is worthy of every guilaswoman! To-day, wherever we look, we see war or preparations for it. The world’s wealth is being used to produce weapons for the definite destruction of wealth and the human race. We, as members of the Women’s Cooperative Guild, have a peace policy. Constant vigilance in our guild movement is essential in these uncertain periods, not only in the guild and co-operative improvement, but also municipally and Parliamentarily, because, as in the past, so it will be in the future, that laws made national'v and operated locally, undoubtedly affect the daily life of guild members for good oi’ ill. There is no movement in this country better equipped than our guild movement to influence law makers in the direction of social services, and our aim should be to be in the making of laws both locally and nationally.— Christina Dodsworth, Vice-President, English Women’s Co-operative Guild, in "The Guildswoman,” March, 1939.
