FOR AUSTRALIAN MILITIA SYDNEY, December 5. In an address broadcast throughout. Australia, Mr Lyons referred to the circumstances influencing the Government in its ambitious defence scheme. He said that he did not believe for a moment that war was inevitable, but if. we hoped to avoid war, we must be prepared for it. He made a strong appeal for co-operation in the campaign to increase the militia forces.
