MINISTERIAL VISITS

TO WEST COAST Hon. P. C. Webb at Barrytown In continuation of his tour of the Buller electorate, Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Mines, yesterday arrived at Barrytown from Westport. He inspected the Barrytown dredge, and later received deputations. Last evening the Minister delivered a public address in the Barrytown Hall, whilst later he was entertained by the Barrytown Branch of the Labour Party and the Farmers’ Union. Mr Webb will arrive at Greymouth early this morning, and will be a guest at the Empire Hotel. During his stay here, he will visit Blackball, Runanga, and other portions of his electorate. Whilst at Runanga tomorrow, the Minister will perform the opening ceremony at the four new tennis courts, the last two of which are nearing completion. The Minister will also meet representatives of the State Miners’ Union and of the Borough Council on departmental matters. This evening, the Minister will address a public meeting, whilst later he will be entertained at supper by the Runanga Branch of the Labour Party.

VISIT OF OTHER MINISTERS. Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Railways, and Industries and Commerce, will arrive at Greymouth by rail-car on Thursday next at 6.23 p.m. He will probably be accompanied by Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works. On Thursday evening, at 8 o’clock, Mr Sullivan will meet a deputation of Westland representatives at the Greymouth Borough Council Chambers in reference to the suggested extension of the railway to South Westland. On Friday morning, Mr Sullivan will visit Hokitika about 10 o’clock, and then proceed to Kanieri for the opening ceremony at the new Kanieri dredge at 10.30 o’clock. For this dredge, the machinery was largely fabricated by the Railway Department at Addington Workshops. Hon. Mr Sullivan is likely to be accompanied to Kanieri by Hons. P. C. Webb and R. Semple, and, if so, it will be a unique occasion for the West Coast in having, three Cabinet Ministers assembled at the one time. After luncheon in town, the Ministerial party departs for Christchurch to connect at Lyttelton with the ferry steamer.
