T he best day’§ irdn was 150 miles on the stretch frpm Gisborne to Cape - rurnagain, but there the wind failed. The brew had to make a spinnaker bpom out of the oars and a plank and while improvising this, a member fell overboard. Off Cape Tumagam they caught an albicore, rather a fare

While finishing off Palliser Light they signalled'to the keeper and asked him to report them, but tl*)y were still there next morning. Here a shark robbed them, of some fish. They had two kahawai and two barracuda hanging over the side, and a shark got them. They drifted till they got a light south-easterly. Off Turakirae they struck a had and it began to blow; increasing so that they had to shorten sail till they were under the foresail, alone. One big sea broke over them and there was six inches of v/ter .in the cabin, and crockery was broken. The harbour was beaten into under engine and sails At, no
