REFEREE’S TROUSERS TORN. LONDON, May 30. A Canadian and an Italian met in a wrestling contest last week at Salford, Lancashire, but it was the English referee who gave up first. Joe De Valto (Italy) and Eddie Jackson (Newfoundland) decided there was not room in the ring for more than two. So they held the referee uown and tore off his trousers. .

After the referee, Mr H. Harvey, had left the ring in his socks and underwear, the wrestlers tried to choke one another with the I’emains of the trousers. A scuffle followed in the ring, [but order was restored and the match proceeded.
