The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mr. B. King (Chairman), Messrs B. Ward, J. Ryall, Wallace and E. A. Kirby, attended to-day’s meeting of the Westland Land Board. Applications for land were granted as follows:—Section 9, town of Matainui, 39.6 perches (cash), T. W. Duff; Section 3, town of Matainui, Ird. 9.6 p. (cash), Westland Hospital Trustees; Part Reserve 465, Block 1, Kanieri S.D.; 2r. 25p. (Section 147>. Ed. C. Kennedy; Sub. 2 of Section 2574, Block X, Karangarua S.D.; 83a. 22p. (regs.), Walter Scott. The following applications for land

were adjourned:—Block VIII, Haupiri S.D.; 405 acres (Regs.), A. J. O’Leary; Section 3732, Block VII, Mawheranui S.D.; 1 rood, Ed. MulcareCobden S.D., 1 acre (Part VIII, (Molo.), Michael Keeney; Sections 2760 and 2763, Block HI, Brunner, and Section 2769, Block 1, Kopara S.D. (Regs.), 1,502 acres, Wm. Mai--1 inson.

An application refused was that of North Beach Crushed Metal and Shingle Co., Ltd., for 4 acres, Block 8, Mawheranui (Section 347). Timber Licenses were granted as follows:—P. J. Higgins, over Crown land in Block VIII, Mahinapua S.D.; C. J. O’Leary, a renewal of license over an area in Section 3144, Block XV, Waiwhero S.D. (Card 779); Case Bros., an area of Crown lands; R. J. Graham, over 80 acres, Section 3202, Block XIII, Wataroa S.D. (card 546) • J. Moore, 40 acres in Section 2724, Mawheranui S.D.; A. H. Thelin, a renewal over 80 acres, pt. Sections 2765 and 2766, Block I, kopara S.D. (Card 754); W. Spencer, area in Pt. Section 3213, Block XIII, Ahaura S.D. The following timber license application was adjourned:—M. Moore, Senr., 35 acres in Block XIII, Mawheranui S.D. (held by C. Barrett)? Tom Aitken, application for a license over an area in Block XV, Arnold S.D.,- was refused. G. P. Thomson’s application for a renewal over 50 acres in Cobden S.D. (Card 759), was left in the hands of Commissioner of Crown Lands. The Commissioner placed before the Board for consid eration a letter from the Conservator of Forests re C. Barrett’s splitting license over 35 acres, Block XIII, Mawheranui S.D. (Card 748).—Adjourned.

The following applications for transfers and sub-leases were approved:—Lot 1 on D.P. 838, of Reserve 1294, Town of Cobden, 20 perches, L. A. Chapman to G. W. Gunn; Section 2373 Block XV, Wataroa S.D., 269 acres, M. W. Chinn to A. J. Chinn, Block IV, Mahinapua S.D., 3 acres, C. E. Sparkes to J. J.
