Considerable quantities of stores were taken from Hokitika aboard the m.v. “Gael” yesterday Sor Jackson Bay, indicating an increase in the population of the southern locality. The Gael also took twelve men to ?• qage in the works there, and a i <siderable amount, of modern machinery for the conduct of the public works.

In the Westland election results published to-day, there was an omission, that 6f Cr. J. L. Turner, who was re-elected to the Hokitika Borough Council, polling 617 votes. In the southern election, the votes polled by Cr. J. Donovan for the Westland County Council numbered 289 (not 389 as published). In the Ross Mavoral election, the successful candidate, Mr K. O. May, was incorrectly described as having been identified with the Labour interest, Mr May not having stood at all in that capacitl’. In the combined borough poll (Hokitika, Ross and Kumara) for a seat on the Greymouth Harbour Board, the details were: Hokitika— G. A. Perry 797, .E. W. Heenan 328, Ross —Perry 197, Heenan 56: Kumara— Parry 45 t Heenan 36; totals—Perry 1639. Henan 420; majority 619. Mr Perry’s re-election as Mayor of Hokitika adds another term to the record tenure of that office to which he has attained.
