Stayed On: Parisienne had nothing much tn

hand when she beat Nervie’s Last by half a length over a mile and a half, and the latter comes in on 12 yards better terms over an extra furlong in the Grand Final. Parisienne was, however, staying on better than Nervie’s Last.

Moneymakers: Parisienne £1575, Supetax £1125 and Lucky Jack £lO5O are the principal money gatherers at the championship meeting and hold a chance of getting more. Australians:

Americans: The held for the Westland Handicap at Addington includes three American horses in Bing Crosby, Fremont and Starwyn. A Straight Run: The one mile and five furlongs distance at Addington will give a run from the top of the straight to over a furlong to the first turn. Sea Gift: Sea Gift has been racing amongst the pacers, but to-morrow will meet those of her own gait in the Auckland Handicap. Barred: The changing state of the going during the championship meeting debars the watch from providing a line to form. STABLE HANDS FORM UNION. CHRISTCHURCH, May 2. Stable hands in racing and trotting stables in Canterbury have formed a Union which has been registered as the Canterbury Racing and Trotting Stable Hands’ Industrial Union. This is the first Union of its kind formed in New Zealand, but it is expected that workers in other centres will follow the lead given by Canterbury. Better wages and improved living, conditions are two of the main aims of the Union.
