HARIHARI NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent], The main highway between the Big and Little Wanganui Rivers is in a bad state, as also is the inter Wanganui Flat road. The latter road is controlled by the Westland County Council and many of the rate-payers are of the opinion that their money is being spent elsewhere. Last week over 2,000 iambs left South Westland. The New Zealand Road Service had a large number of lorries running to cope with the number. This week another large consignment goes forward to the freezing works. Mr L. S. Robertson, who had the misfortune to have his house destroyed by fire last week, is a heavy loser, the insurance on the building being only £250. Mr. J. Anderson, of the “Argus staff, passed north on Saturday afternoon after being on a visit to the south of Westland. Mr. Blacklow, of Ross, paid a visit here on Saturday last. Mr. J. Fleming, representing T. H. Green and Co., of Christchurch, paid a business visit here on Saturday. Miss Olive Adamson, Murchison, paid a brief visit to these parts for the week-end. Mr. E. Hansen, who is a patient in the Westland Hospital, is progressing favourably. Mrs. H. H. Adamson, who is also a patient jn the Westland Hospital, is much improved. Mr. F. W. Baillie, of Greymouth, was a visitor here last week. Mr. H. J. Bignell. of Greymouth, was a visitor here last week on Education Board business. Mr. H. Bullock, of Greymouta, paid a visit to Bruce Bay last week. Nurse Turner, of the Plunket Society, paid her monthly visit here on Sunday. Mr. R. Diedrichs, of Christchurch, is visiting Harihari.
