lOur Own Correspondent]. Mr. H. Smith of Granity is the new addition to the clerical staff of our local Post Office, replacing Mr. T. C. Murray who has been transferred to Christchurch. Mrs. M. Pirrie, Main Road, was admitted to the Grey Hospital last Tuesday, to undergo treatment. Mr. Anzac Keown left by Thursday’s express enroute to Wellington. Mr. W. Eckersley, Roa Road, was admitted to the Grey Hospital on Monday last, for observation and treatment. Constable P. E. R. Myers and Mrs. Myers, of Ashburton, who have been spending a holiday as the. guests of Constable and Mrs. Moore, have left on their return via Nelson, Blenheim, and Kiakoura.

Mr. Jas. Mulhern, Ashburton, who has been the guest of Constable and Mrs. Moore, has left on his return. The Picnic Committee are leaving no stone unturned in their endeavours to raise funds for the forthcoming. combined picnic, which is scheduled to take place at Cass Square, Hokitika, on the 19th inst. The latest effort, is a "back to childhood” dance which will be held in the Odd Fellows Hall to-night. Many novelty dances will be introduced, while the start turn, of the evening will be the selecting of a “Beauty' Queen” for the forthcoming picnic. This is a grand chance for local talent to come along and display those latent charms. Mrs. MacGregor draper, Blackball, is donating a suitable gift for this event. There is a cordial welcome awaiting young and old alike. Come along and enjoy yourselves and assist in a good cause. Mr. Dunn’s merry-go-round . and side shows, which have been doing good business on the vacant plot between the Club Hotel and Mrs. Tennant’s store, for the past week, made there final showing on Tuesday evening, leaving on Wednesday forenoon on a tour of the northern district.
