[Our Own Correspondent]. The weather here has been very unsettled during the last few days. It has cleared up again, but tne wind is very strong and there has been a slight flood in the river. In the Waitaha River at present herring can be seen for a long distance up stream at high water, and just a short distance off the beach all kinds of fish can be caught. All of the schools in South Westland have resumed after the annual holidays. . , , Mrs. Grassam of Christchurch is on a visit to her daughter in South Westland. The Happy Valley road work is now in full swing.
