CRICKET
WOMEN’S TEAM RETURN. WELLINGTON, February 11. The New Zealand women’s cricket team arrived back from Sydney by the Wanganella, to-day. The captain (Miss Pickering) said that the tour had been satisfactory, the standards of play in New Zealand and the Commonwealth being similar. The Australians’ batting was disappointing, but their slow break bowling puzzled the New Zealand girls. She considered that the New Zealand girls should try this type of bowling, as it had proved particularly effective against them. The New Zealand team’s greatest strength had been in the field.
