INDIAN VISIT ABANDONED. LONDON, February 10. The Duke of Gloucester’s household denies knowledge of any plains for him to visit India at Xmas. The India Office announces that the King has communicated his decision not to visit India during the Winter of 1938. His Majesty feels that he would not be justified in imposing any additional burden on the existing revenues of India, at a time when the calls on them in connection with the inauguration of provincial autonomy, are already heavy. The King expressed his regret, and announced his intention of visiting India as soon as circumstances permit. DUKE OF WINDSOR. OSLO. February 10. The “Aftenposten” publishes a special interview with the Duke of Windsor, in which he says that he and the Duchess have practically decided to spend the Summer in touring Scandinavia. PRESENTATIONS AT COUNCIL. GETTING THROUGH THE RUSH. LONDON, February 11. The Lord Chamberlain announces that Their Majesties are holding four evening courts at Buckingham Palace in May and July, and also two evening parties. The attendance at these gatherings is to constitute a presentation at Court. There was a rush of applications during Coronation year for presentation, which resulted in many being held over, and the applications this year are too great to cope with the normal number of courts.
