During the afternoon, a presentation was made to Amy Evans, to commemorate her leaving Stockton to attend the Nelson College. Amy Evans won a scholarship during her attendance at the Granity High School and the best of wishes will travel with her to Nelson. Mrs. H. Evans and Mrs. C. Steele, travelled to Nelson during the weekend. Masters John and Duncan McGhir, sons of Mr. and Mrs. T. McGhir, returned to Nelson on Tuesday. Miss C. Wilson, of Stockton, has been appointed to the Granity School in a temporary capacity. Mrs. M. Lavery and son, have returned to Greymouth after spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. J. Lavery. Mrs. H. Lavery and family, returned to Westport during the week-end after spending a short holiday with Mr. and Mrs. C. Steele. Miss I. Summers, of Huntly, is visiting her father, Mr. J. Summers, of Stockton.

The Stockton swimming pool was well patronised during the past week. Quite a number will soon be able to say: “I can swim!” / Mr. J. Fitzsimmons, has been laid up since Friday with the " ’flu.” Quite a few cases of influenza are reported in the last week or so. Miss Nancy Potter, has been spending a holiday with her grandmother. Mrs. S. Clarke. She left on return for Blackball on Wednesday. The mine worked the full five shifts last week.

Mr. W. Miller, is still confined to his bed, but is improving slowly. The Ngakawau Miners’ Union will hold a meeting on Sunday, when nominations for the official and executive positions will be dealt with.
