ARRIVES FROM ENGLAND. FOR WELLINGTON LINE. . ’ • I [Per Press Association]. AUCKLAND, February 10. Built for the Wellington-Paekaka-riki main line service, the first stream-lined electric locomotive to be constructed in England, arrived at Auckland from Liverpool by the Federal Line steamer Cambridge. Partly dismantled for shipping, the locomotive is carried in two cases as deck cargo, and it will be unloaded at Wellington. The engine which was shipped from the Preston Works of English Electric Company, is capable of drawing a 250-ton passenger train at 60 miles an hour, and a 500-ton goods train at 45 miles an hour. To the same design, seven more electric locomotives will be built in New Zealand for the same purpose, and two of a somewhat similar type for the Arthur’s Pass-Otira service:
