A Press Association message from Dunedin stated that Rev. Alexander Greig, who is in his 100th. year, and is the oldest Presbyterian minister in the Dominion, is seriously ill.

Constable P. Tulloch arrived yesterday from Auckland. He has been appointed constable at Bruce Bay, and will be charge of the police district recently set up from the Cook River south to me Westland boundary at Big Bay.

The appointment of Rev. J. Robertson as Moderator of Christchurch Presbytery was confirmed at a meeting of the Presbytery yesterday morning. He succeeds Rev. J. Lawson Robinson. Mr Robinson has been Minister at Cashmere Hills Church, since 1930, and before that was at Clive.—Press Assn.

Mr. H. S. Batchelor, a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. S. Batchelor, of Christchurch, collapsed suddenly on Monday evening and died before he could be taken to hospital. Mr. Batchelor was recognised as one of the leading amateur wrestlers in the South Island. For the last two years he held the middle-weight title of Canterbury. Last year he won the South Island title, and was runner-up in his section at the New Zealand Championships.

Mr W. H. Hall has been nominated as a candidate for the Timaru seat in the National interests. A member of the Timaru Borough Council for the last five years, Mr Hall is chairman of the works committee of that body and is the council’s representative on the South Canterbury Hospital Board. He has occupied a seat on the Timaru Fire Board for the last five years as the council’s representative, besides which he is charman of the Timaru Domain Board and of the Timaru Cemetery Board. He was a prominent building contractor in Timaru for many years before his retirement.
