INFANTILE PARALYSIS
Australian Epidemic NOW DYING OUT. (Received December 14,10.40 p.m.) MELBOURNE, December 14. ) With the infantile paralysis total at 1,170, and with sixty-three deaths recorded since the epidemic began, the official view is that the epidemic is abating. The Chairman of the Health Commission, Doctor Featonby, said that the paralysis had passed the epidemic stage, though widely scattered cases would occur for some time. He had been watching Che New Zealand figures, which showed that only last week, for the first time since the epidemic began, there had been no cases reported in New Zealand. Dr. Featonby praised the theatres and shop proprietors for their co-operation.
