NELSON LAND BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Nelson Land Board, held on Thursday, there were present: Mr. ?■ R< Wilkinson, Commissioner of Crown Lands (Chairman), and Messrs A. R. Edwards, J. O’Regan, W. Blackadder and F. W. Gibbs. Applications for land received were:—l,ooo acres (approximately), in Blocks V, VI and X, Reefton S.D. (Applicants, Thos. John Gilmer and Walter Williams). The Board resolved to grant an occupation license to Mr. T. J. Gilmer at an annual rental of £5. Section 1, Sq. 175, Block XII, Burnett S.D. Area, 1281 acres. Cap. value, £250. Annual rental £lO. (Applicant, John Thomson).—Resolved to grant Mr. Thomson a Renewable Lease at a capital value of £250. On an application for timber license over 50 acres in Block XV, Mokihinui S.D. (Hydro Coal Company), it was resolved to (1) rescind resolution of 12/8/1937 granting Messrs Moynihan and party a timber cutting license and (2) grant the Hydro Coal Company a timber cutting license for twelve months from 9/12/37 at the usual royalty rates. The Board approved of transfer of Section 80, Westport Colliery Reserve. Area, 12.1 perches (annual rental £9) from Tyrrell Williams to The Buller Times, Ltd.

An exchange of tenure of Section 19, Block VIII, Tadmor S.D., area 524 acres. Cap. value £157 4s Od. Annual rental under ORP 271 £7 17s 2d. Applied for by D. M. Jamieson. —Approved. The Board decided to cancel as at 28/12/36 O.L. 1090 of Sections 14 and 16, Block VIII, Mawheraiti S.D. Area 301 acres. A.R. £2. (H. J. Chandler).

The following applications for increases in area were dealt with: —- Area of 112 acres in Block 11, Tutaki S.D. Annual rental £1 15s Od (D. O’Rourke).—Resolved to include in Occupation License No. 143 two and a half acres of land lying between the road and river in Block 11, Tutaki Survey District. ; Fourteen acres, approximately, being western half of Brown Creek, fronting Sections 2/5 Block IX, Inangahua S.D. Annual rent £l. (Heriry Betts).—Resolved to include area opposite Sections 2/5, Block IX, Inangahua Survey District, in O.L. 899 and to increase rent to £1 5s Od. The Conservator of Forests, Nelson, forwarded proposals by Local Bodies as under for the expenditure of fifths of revenue from State Forests.
