[Per Press Association], WELLINGTON, December 14. The weather report (based on observations at 15.00 hrs. on Tuesday), is as follows:— General situation: The first of a series of westerly depressions is crossing the Dominion to-day. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong, northwesterly to westerly, reaching gale force in some exposed positions about and south of Cook Strait, and backing temporarily in places to southwesterly. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong winds between north-west and south-west prevailing, with moderate to rather rough seas. Weather for the most part fair in the eastern coastal areas between Banks Peninsula and East Cape; otherwise, weather changeable, witn rain at times, and some heavy falls are probable in the western districts from Taranaki southwards.
