Labour Party Meeting: Mr W. H. Woodcock was in the chair at the usual fortnightly meeting of the Westport Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party held last evening. There was a large attendance of members. _ Mr Duggan, secretary of the Ku nanga branch, wrote thanking the Westport Party for the hospitality extended to the members of the Debating' Club during their recent visit to Westport, and expressed the hope that the inter-branch debates would be continued at intervals. _ It was agreed to extend an mvitation to Mr Skinner, president of. Rifle Shooting: The Westport Defence Rifle Club held their third and final shoot of the first competition during the weekend. This shoot was won by Mr N. Perkins, with a score of 101, which included the possible .at the 600 yards range. He also won in the aggregate, with Mr J. Keoghan runner-up. Next week-end the club will fire for £2, the Nelson district prize fund. This will be fired in conjunction with the first shoot of the second competition, 10 shots at 300 yards and 11 shots at 600 yards. Seven prizes will be distributed. Tennis: Following is the draw for next week-end in the Buller Association inter-club competition: — A Grade. —Westport v. St. John’s, at Westport: Granity v. Karamea, at Granity; Millerton a bye. B Grade.—Seddonville-Mokihinui v. Westport, at Seddonville; St. John’s v. Granity, at St. John’s; Stockton a bye. The first matches of the 1937-38 season were played during last weekend, and from the keenness prevailing jn the various fixtures the competition promises to become very interesting.
