CROQUET
MAKURA CLUB MATCHES. ■ Despite the showery weather , on Saturday, the lawns of the -Makura Croquet Club's green were in good playing order and some- keen games were witnessed. The foursome was won by Mesdames Thomas and Mercer, with a score of 30.
Other scores were: Mesdames Moss and Logan 29, Mesdames Popple and James 25, Mesdames Whibley and Herring 21, Mesdames Robertson and Kay 20, Mrs. Warnes and Miss McKnight 12. The following is the result of the Peace and Shallcrass Bowls which have been finalised:—
Peace Bowl: Mrs. Logan beat Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Herring beat Mrs. Howard, Mrs. Mercer beat Mrs. James, Miss Hambleton defaulted to Mrs. Hannan, Mrs. Moss beat Mrs. McCorkindale, Mrs. Whibley. beat Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Warnes beat Mrs. Herring, Mrs. A. Smith beat Mrs. Ray, Mrs. Robertson beat Mrs. Gore by default, Mrs. Popple won by default from. Miss Sheedy. Mrs. Mercer lost to Mrs. Hannan, Mrs. Moss beat Mrs. Whibley, Mrs. Warnes beat Mrs. A. Smith, Mrs. Robertson beat Mrs. Popple. Mrs. Moss beat Mrs. Hannan. Mrs. Robertson beat Mrs. Warnes.
In the final, Mrs. Moss beat Mrs. Robertson.
Shallcrass Bowl—lst. round: Mrs. Robertson beat Mrs. Hannan, Mrs. Logan won by default from Mrs. Hambleton, Mrs. Whibley beat Mrs. Mercer.
Second round—Mrs. Wai’nes beat Mrs. Moss, Mrs. Robertson beat Mrs. Logan, Mrs. Whibley beat Mrs. McCorkindale, Mrs. Howard won by default from Mrs. A. Smith. Third round —Mrs. Warnes beat Mrs. Robertson, Mrs. Whibley beat Mrs. Howard. Final: Mrs. Whibley beat Mrs. Warnes.
