STRIKE ENDS
AT ONEHUNGA WOOLLEN MILLS, NEGOTIATIONS OPENED. AUCKLAND, December 13. After a week of idleness, caused by a strike of the employees in sympathy with the grievances of the girls in the weaving section, work was resumed at Onehunga Woollen Mills today. Soon after the resumption of work negotiations were opened with the Management by the Union concerning the matters in dispute, but it is gathered that little, if any, progress was made, and so the proceedings were adjourned until to-morrow. Throughout the trouble the company had intimated that it was prepared to discuss the grievances with representatives of the employees, provided work was first resumed. The Company did not deviate in any way from that position, the workers returning on terms as stated. It is stated that Mr. J. Walsh (President of the New Zealand Watersioe Workers’ Federation), acting for the Government, interested himself in the question of abandoning the strike.
