' 40 YEARS’ PEACE New Hope Raised [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] LONDON, December 12. The newspaper “The People" says: Secret efforts are being made to secure forty years’ peace in Europe, on the basis of recognition of Italy’s conquest of Abyssinia, colonies to be given to Germany, as the result of a conference of the Powers possessing colonies, separation of the League Covenant from the Versailles Treaty, and abandonment of the Sanctions clause, in return for the independence of new Spain, guarantee of the present European boundaries by Italy and Germany, and a pact of non-ag-gression to be signed by Italy, Germany, England arid France. Mr Eden is hopeful of reaching a| pact of non-aggression, to be signed by Italy, Germany, England, and France. He is hopeful of reaching a settlement on these lines. TOUR OF DELBOS. LONDON, December 12. According to the Bucharest correspondent of “The Times,” M. Victor Antonescu (Roumanian Foreign Minister) and M. Delbos examined the International situation, particularly as it affects Central Europe. They discovered a perfect identity of views, and intend to develop FrancoRoumanian co-operation, particularly in economic and cultural fields. BELGRADE, December 12. M. Delbos was greeted with wild scenes of enthusiasm. Cheering crowds marched from the station to the foreign Office, where trouble began, when the crowds, shouting, “Down with Fascism!” broke the police cordon. Someone fired two shots, and the police charged. Two people were killed, and many were injured.
