HARIHARI NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent.! Quite a large number of Canterbury residents who were travelling on the excursion train to Greymouth and Hokitika visited Lake lanthe on Sunday afternoon. The weather was ideal for the outing, and the lake itself was a glowing picture on such a beautiful summer day. The visitors were conveyed to the lake in four of the N.Z. Road Service buses, and they returned to Hokitika early in the evening on the homeward journey. The Central Dairy Factory lorry which was coming to these parts picking up cream since 1923, has gone off this part of the road. The change has been brought about to prevent the cream collection from overlapping. The Central Factory now collects cream in the area from Kumara in the north to the Waitaha Settlement in the south. The Inter-Wanganui factory lorry collects cream from Mount Bonar in the north to Weheka in the south. II is hoped that the change will be for the benefit of the suppliers to both factories. The present members of the local Domain Board owing to effluxion of time have ended their term. A public meeting will be held on Thursday, December 9, for the purpose or nominating suitable ladies and gentlemen to control the Domain for a further term. The retiring members are Messrs W. Searle junr. (chairman).’ and E. Kirby (secretary). T. S. Ferguson, J. Lucas, W. Searle senr., W. Thiele, and Mrs M. Rowley. All ''members of the old Board will, of course, be eligible for re-appointment. If more nominations are received than there are seats to be filled, selection will be made by ballot.
