DOUBLE FEATURE PROGRAMME. Happier and scrappier than ever, The Jones Family, Hollywood's hilarious incarnation of the average American family, returns to the screen of the Regent Theatre to-day in a new hit that mares the Joneses as one of the screen's most prized possessions. “Educating Father” is the new Fox picture featuring The Jones Family, Jed Prouty, Shirley Deane, Dixie Dunbar, Spring Byington, Kenneth Howell. June Carlson. George Ernest, Florence Roberts and William Mahan enact the featured roles. Prouty, as Father Jones, is a small town druggist who lives to bring happiness to his wife and children. Kenneth Howell, the oldest Jones boy, wants to become an aviator. Dad insists he become a druggist. Prouty goes fishing. The Jones’ lease on their store is imperiled by a chain organisation. With dad fifty miles away, it seems impossible for him to handle the situation, but Kenneth commandeers an airplane, flies to dad, and brings him back in time. “CLARENCE." “Clarence," the Booth. Tarkington comedy, brought Roscoe Karns, Eleanore Whitley, Eugene Pallette, Johnny Downs and Charlotte Wynters in this Paramount picture to the Regent in as entertaining a comedy as anyone could wish to see. A recently discharged soldier, played by Karns, is taken into Pallette’s home as man-of-all-work. He finds rhe daughter, Miss Whitney, in love with a much older man; the son, Downs, in love with his sister’s governess; the maid trying to shake Johnny down, and the butler promising the boy the direst of consequences if he doesn’t kick in. Pallette is in love with his wife who chooses to believe her husband is in love with the governess. Hired to fix bath tubs, and tune pianos, Karns decides his job and includes the unknotting of the family’s heart affairs. This he proceeds to do, with great confidence. He wins himself a beautiiul bride in the process.

SPRINKBOK BALL. All roads will lead to Greymouth on Wednesday, next. In the afternoon thousands will flock to Rugby Park to see the Springbox in action against the Buller and West Coast representatives. In the evening hundreds will assemble in Schaef’s Hall to wa the Springbox in action on the dance floor. Thirty stalwart South African footballers will attend the grand reception ball, tendered by the Celtic Club. An energetic committee has been sparing no expense nor time to make this a memorable occasion in the minds of both Coasters and Springboks. Ron Stopforth and his Marina Dance Band have been engaged to provide really snappy music and Harker’s are supplying a de-luxe Cabaret supper. Mesdames W. Meldrum, J. W. Hannan and J. O’Brien will act as hostesses. NGAHERE HALL. On Saturday August 14th the anniversary ball was quite a success dancers coming from all parts of the district. Marley’s Dance Band provided the music, which was well appreciated, the music being suited for both old and young. Extras were played by Mrs. Tate, Misses Hardie and Mulcare Mr. Hardie made a very capable M.C. The novelties were won
