MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. Mr. J. Stokes (Vice Chairman), was in the chair at last evening’s meeting or the Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby League last evening, there being present also Messrs A. H. McKane, W. Barlow, W. O’Neill, J. Anisy, A. Kyle, B. Ramsay, B. Rtfthbun, A. Fielding (referees), W. Moore (Junior Advisory Board), and R. J. Harrington (Secretary). The Blackball Club wrote withdrawing their junior team from the competition owing to the fact that they had received three consecutive defaults from other clubs. After some discussion it was decided on the motion of Messrs McKane and O’Neill, that a delegates’ meeting be held next Tuesday to discuss the matter and that in the meantime the Blackball Club be asked to reconsider its decision and fulfil fixtures. The Inangahua Sub Centre advised that their Knock Out would be finalised about August 21. Mr. Barlow said that he would like to see the Thacker Shield match at Blackball. Mr. O’Neill moved that the game be played- in Blackball, under the usual arrangements. This was seconded by Mr. Ramsay and carried. Mr. J. Nielson (referee), further reported on his ordering off of A. Gibson (Ngahere), in the Ngahere-Black-ball match. It was decided that the League considered the ordering off to be suf--1 ficient penalty. Mr. O’Neill said that the Runanga ■ Juniors had not defaulted, as owing i to sickness they had asked that the I match be played later. | The Secretary said that he had been ; asked to notify the Blackball Club that the position was a> stated. ■ Mr- Ramsay asked what was the i position of referees playing. The Acting-Chairman said in cases , where teams were short, referees; could play. Mr. Fielding said that the rules of the Referees’ Association permitted, them to play in certain cases, but not on many consecutive cases. Mr. Ramsay: It is hardly fair for a referee to play for Marist one day and referee then the next week. Mr. Fielding: Once a referee dons the white jersey he forgets ail about Club affiliations. Mr. Ramsay: He should, I admit. The Chairman ruled the discussion out of order. Mr. Stokes was appointed to assist Mr. Moore in the management of the ‘ Norman Cox Cup team to Christ-! church. It was decided to forward a letter of appreciation to the Minister ol Broadcasting for facilities afforded the code in broadcasting the Maori match at Auckland and to express’ disappointment that 3ZR did .not. broadcast the whole of the match. | The Chairman said that the only available date for the return Coast-' Inangahua match was next Saturday They had been in communication with Inangahua, but were not yet in a position to say if they could play. The selectors had selected a team which could be published when the arrangements were finalised. During the meeting a telephone message was received from Reefton confirming the date. Mr. J. Stokes was appointed Manager for the Coast team. The Inangahua Sub Centre approved -of the nomination of Mr. J. Griffen as referee. The Secretary stated that the O’Donnell Cup was solely for local competition, but the Reefton Club was willing to play a friendly game against Kumara. It was decided that the team to play the Richmond Club be selected by the Sole Selectors after the match. WEST COAST TEAM. The following team was forwarded by the Selectors (Messrs L. Hunter and J. McNaughton (Blackball ). Forwards: J. Calder (Marist), W. Sequin (Marist), E. Tuck (Ngahere); R. Clark (Blackball), P. Affleck (Marist); W. Glynn (Runanga). Emergencies: D. Pearson (Marist), J.
