CRIPPLED CHILDREN

1 SOCIETY’S MEETING. WELLINGTON, August 17. _ An assurance of the Government s whole hearted sympathy with the 'work of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society was given by the Minister of Health and Education Hon P. Fraser, when officially opening the Society’s second annual meeting. He commended the efforts already made to alleviate the lot o' those in whose interests the Society was established. He said that the two departments of which he was head came into close contact with the Society’s work, and there was a desire to help in every possible way. In a letter to the President Mr. Justice Smith, apologising for his absence, referred to the establishment of Women’s Auxiliaries as being a stroke of insight, and described the taking over of the Wilson Home by the Auckland Hospital Board as an admirable solution of a financial difficulty, admirably effected. Sir Alexander Roberts who presided, eulogised the work accomplished by the branches during the year It was decided to arrange a conference with the Education Department to investigate the whole question of the education of crippled children, and to endeavour to arrive nt a satisfactory scheme.
