SEVEN MONTHS’ FIGURES. Compared with the same period last year, there was a decrease of 935,955 superficial feet in the export of timber from the port of Greymouth during the seven months ended July 31. | In the period the overseas export fell by over half, but this is offset to a great extent by me increase in the export to other coastal -sports. An increase over over 1,000,000 super, ft. was recorded during July, 1937, due principally to the fact that there were no overseas shipments at all during the corresponding period of 1936. The comparative figures are as follows: July, 1937, coastal 1,879,579, overseas 889,987; total 2,769,476; July, 1936, coastal 1,693,226; Jan.-July, 1937, 10,817,169—5,183,655, total 16,000,824; Jan.-July, 1936, 6,236,918—10,827,951; total 17,064,869. COAL EXPORT INCREASED During the seven months an increase of 13,625 tons was recorded in the export of coal from the port, even though July of this year was lower than in the corresponding month of 1936 by over 2500 tons.
