Rescued by the father of one of them, and by a passing motorist, after they had been battling against a strong outgoing tide for almost an hour, two messengers employed at Thames Post Office, P. E. Thorburn, aged 17, and W. R. Davies, aged 16 had a narrow escape- from drowning in the sea about a mile on the Thames side of Tapii this afternoon. They were unconscious when they were taken to the Thames Hospital from severe exhaustion. The boys had been fishing from a dinghy which had not been used for some time, and when it was a considerable distance from the share at Waiomio, it started to leak and foundered under them, throwing them into the sea.| The rescuers swam out and secured the boys just in time.
