Win for McCready LEWIS DISQUALIFIED. [Per Press Association], WELLINGTON, August 15. Five times world champion, perhaps the most formidable wrestler ever seen in Wellington, the mat veteran “Strangler” Lewis met i_.arl McCready on Saturday night. Lewis lost the bout by disqualification. He took the first fall with a series of heavy headlocks and a bodjjjtress in the third round. In the fifth round McCready lifted Lewis and dumped him heavily, the impact of his nineteen odd stone shaking the stage. He then pounced on Lewis and pinned him. In the sixth and last round, McCready hunted Lewis round the ring, punishing him, and ringing elbow jolts until at last the big man turned at bay and knocked McCready to the mat with a single smashing blow of a clenched fist. The referee, Mr Alf Jenkins, raised McCready’s limp arm in token of victory. The excited crowd hooted Lewis and showered peanuts, pennies, crumpled programmes and cigarette tins into the ring. A press man suffered an ugly gash from a flying coin. Lewis watched- the demonstration with, apparent unconcern. " MARSHALL AND WESCOATT DRAW. FARCICIAL BOUT. DUNEDIN, August 15.
