Although the appeal for the King George V National Memorial Fund ended last January, subscriptions from the public are still arriving. About £590,000 has now been received. Of this sum £125,000 is being set aside for the memorial site and statue. The gift by' the Government of State property' on a selected site was to another £BO,OOO. The remainder of the fund is being used for the establishment of playing fields, which will be known as “King George’s fields.” The sum now available for this purpose exceeds £431,000, the allocation of which is in the hands of the Administrative Council.
