NINE WICKET WIN

FOR N.Z. TEAM Cahn’s Eleven out for 134 (From the Special Correspondent of the United Press Association with the team.) NOTTINGHAM, August 12. The New Zealanders’ success was really outstanding. It was the first time Cahn’s team had been beaten since a defeat five years ago, when touring South America. The New Zealand bowling was excellent, especially by Roberts, who might easily have taken six or eight wickets, several snicks evading the fieldsmen. He performed the hat trick before lunch, for the first time in his career. He received the ball as a souvenir. Cowie bowled his fastest. All the batsmen played him defensively. There was nothing wrong with the wicket. It was a performance of great merit to dismiss such a strong side so cheaply, twice. New Zealand comfortably scored the runs required, although the bowling was of average County strength. Tindill gave probably his best display for the tour, making clear strong strokes all round the wicket. Carson punished anything short, with great severity.
