[Per Press Association!. WELLINGTON, August 13. The weather report and forecast based on observations at 15,.00 hours on Friday, is as follows: — General situation: Pressure is still very high over Eastern Australia, the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, the highest values at present extending across the southern portion of the South Island. Forecast: Winds, south-easterly north of Westport and Kaikoura, and variable thence southwards; strong in parts of the Cook Strait area, but soon decreasing, and otherwise light to moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough in the Cook Strait area; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate south-easterly winds becoming variable in the southern portion; seas slight to moderate. Weather: Fair to fine generally, but a few scattered light showers probable at first in the coastal areas between Cook Strait and the r,ast Cape. Cold night temperatures with many sharp frosts, especially in the South Island. There is a prospect of fair weather in most districts during the week-end.
