Bartholomew’s Aunt MAKES ALLEGATIONS. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received August 12, 10.35 p.m.) LOS ANGELES, August 11. His aunt, Myllicent, has filed answer to a suit that was brought on August sth., for a restraining order against the boy actor, Freddie Bartholomew. In her answer she alleges that the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Corporation engineered the smuggling of Freddie Bartholomew from England in 1934, because his proposed employment in the movies there violated the British child labour laws. She claims that the Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer Company promised him a new contract if the film “David Copperfield” were successful, and she adds that Freddie has been offered 7,500 dollars per week by rival companies. Oland’s Wife SUES FOR MAINTENANCE. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] SANTA BARBARA, August 11. After their having been thirty years married, Mrs. Edith Gland is suing the actor, Warner Gland, for separate maintenance at the rate of 3,500 dollars a month. She alleges his over indulgence in liquor.
