POWER BOARD
WANTS CUT IN BULK CHARGE. (Per Press Association]. WANGANUI, August 12. Stating it was time the Government granted some concession in bulk power charges, Mr F. Purnell,' chairman of the Wanganui-Rangitikei Power Board, at the monthly meeting today, said the distributors of power had reduced charges to consumers approximately half since electric power was developed on a national scale some 12 years ago. The charges to distributors, however, were still made under the schedule originally drawn up by the Government, absorbing an unduly high proportion of the income of the authorities. He considered an early revision of the Government’s schedule of charges was necessary, in order to bring them more into line with the progressive policy adopted by distributors of electric power. It was decided to forward a remit along these lines to the Power Boards’ Association Conference.
