Won by Cottingham NOCTURNUS WINS AGAIN. [Per Press Association]. CHRISTCHURCH, August 12. For the second day of the Canterbury Jockey Club, the weather was ; fine, and the attendance excellent. The track was in good order. The tote investments were £48,932, com--1 pared with £39,8081 last year. Results:— • HUNT CUP.—I/2 TANGLED (W. ' McDowell) 1; 3/1 Sunward (R. Also started: 2/3 Cock o’ the North, 3/2 Shillelagh Wood, 6/6 Pahu. After the first fence. Cock o’ the North led from Royal Limond, Forest Glow, and Shillelagh Wood, who fell at the first of the kennels double. Cock o’ the North came down at the top brush. Passing the stands, Royal Limond was followed by Forest Glow. Nocturnus, and Pahu. This order was maintained down the back and across the top for Nocturnus to jump to the lead - at the top brush from Forest Glow and ■ Royal Limond. Nocturnus won by 12 ' lengths from Forest Glow, with Royal Limond three lengths away. Time 5.16 2-5.

Cottingham had charge rounding the turn, and was followed across the top by John Charles, Clarion Call, Jollv Beggar, Brigadore, and Journet. Cottingham was six lengths clear of John Charles passing the stands, and maintained his position along the back, with John Charles, Clarion Call. Brigadore, Journet, and Jolly Beggar next. Clarion Call went up to Cottingham rounding the far turn, but Cottingham was just clear of Clarion Call turning for V>me, with Bngadore, Journet, High Quality, and John Charles next. In a hard finish, Cottingham beat Clarion Call by a head, with Brigadore three lengths away. Journet was fourth. Time 4.51 2-5 SPREYDON HURDLES. —2/1 REDOLENT (J. Murfitt) 1; 5/6 Fireguard (R. Sunny Comet was fourth. Time 3.18 4-5. ISLINGTON HANDICAP. —5/5 ARCTIC KING (S. Wilson) 1; 6/6 Boomerang (W. Doyle) 2; 8/7 Queen Dorothv (J. McFarlane) 3. Silver Sight had charge down the back from Monipere, Tiger. Gain, Mount Vai, and Shy. Monipere took the lead at the six furlongs, and was followed across the top by Shy, Last Refrain, Tiger Gain, and Ponty. Monipere and Last Refrain led into the straight from Tiger Gain, Ponty, Queen Dorothy, and Arctic King. The last-named drew out to win by a length from Boomerang, with Queen Dorothy half a length away Monipere was fourth. Time 2.8. AUGUST HANDICAP. —5/4 ALMA (A E. Didham) 1; 2/2 Catalogue (W. Broughton) 2; 7/9 Silver Streak (R Mackie) 3.
