Cock o’ the North led from Royal Limond, Forest Glow, and Shillelagh Wood, who fell at the first of the kennels double. Cock o’ the North came down at the top brush. Passing the stands, Royal Limond was followed by Forest Glow. Nocturnus, and Pahu. This order was maintained down the back and across the top for Nocturnus to jump to the lead - at the top brush from Forest Glow and ■ Royal Limond. Nocturnus won by 12 ' lengths from Forest Glow, with Royal Limond three lengths away. Time 5.16 2-5.

Clarion Call went up to Cottingham rounding the far turn, but Cottingham was just clear of Clarion Call turning for V>me, with Bngadore, Journet, High Quality, and John Charles next. Monipere and Last Refrain led into the straight from Tiger Gain, Ponty, Queen Dorothy, and Arctic King.
