WESTLAND ELECTORATE

MINISTERIAL REPLIES. Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., has received the following Ministerial replies to representations made by him:— "Dear Mr O’Brien: I have to acknowledge receipt , of your letter of the 26th ultimo, enclosing a petition from sixteen Te Kinga mothers urging that as a special concession, the Christchurch express should be stopped at Te Kinga to enable the Plunket Nurse to return to Greymouth. I have read the petition very carefully, and have noted the points contained therein, also your own representations in regard to this matter. I shall be pleased to look into the request, and will advise you further as soon as I am in a position to do so. With kind regards, yours sincerely, H. R. Mason.” The following reply relates to South Westland matters, namely, Gibb and Docherty Roads, and access to Mr J. C. Christianson, Oemoro^- — “Dear Sir: I am in receipt of your letters of the Bth and 12th July in connection with the representations which were made to you by Messrs Gibbs Bros, during a recent tour into South Westland. As a result of the support which you have given to the request for a grant towards the cost of constructing a road from the Main South Highway along the south bank of the Waiho River to the Coast I am noting the position carefully for review during the preparation of the next Estimates. You may rest assured that the request will be given the fullest possible consideration before the Estimates are finalised. Yours faithfully, H. G. R. Mason (for the Minister of Public Works).”
