ANGLO-JAPANESE RIVALRY. LONDON, August 11. The Australian Associated Press is informed that neither the P. and O. nor British-India lines will agree to .attend the International Shipping Conference, which Japanese companies are reported to be seeking to arrange at Tokio in the autumn,'for the purpose of discussing the division of available passenger and cargo traffic in Eastern waters, also passenger and freight rates. *ae P. and O. deny’ reports that they intend to Iransfer liners on lhe Pacific route while the new vessels are building.
