CHANGES TO BE MADE. [Per Press Association J. NELSON, August 12. In connection with the Government's proposals to centralise entomological research work at Nelson, it has been decided to transfer the entomological division of the Plant Bureau to Nelson. Mr. J. Muggeridge, B.Sc., Associate Director of the Entomological Division, has arrived. The Entomological Division will be closely associated with the Cawthron Institute, and Dr. D. Miller, of the Institute staff, has been appointed Director of the Division. Arrangements are now being made for the transfer- of the remainder of the members of Mr. Muggeridge’s staff to Nelson, and for their working accommodation at the Cawthron Institute. Mr. Muggeridge, Government Entomologist, has been in charge of the white butterfly parasite-control work, which has been so successful in Hawke’s Bay and other parts of New Zealand. Dr. H. O. Askew, agricultural chemist on the Cawthron Institute staff, has left on a visit to Australia for the purpose of getting in touch with research investigations dealing with mineral deficiencies and soil problems. He will spenu a few days in Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne, where he will meet prominent scientists engaged in similar activities to those conducted in the agricultural department of the Cawthron Institute. Dr. Askew will then be located at the Waite Institute, Adelaide, for five weeks.
