FIGHT FOR LIFE

Baby’s Birth AFTER MOTHER’S DEATH AMERICAN DOCTOR’S HOPEFUL. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received August S, 8.30 p.m.) PHILADELPHIA, August 7. Despite two choking spasms, in which the baby girl ceased breathing for several seconds, the doctors believe that they are winning the fight for the life of Mrs Boccawsini’s child which was born after her death. The mother’s temperature at the instant of death was 109.4 degress, and the physicians marvelled that the baby was not par-boiled, but they do not fear tuberculosis infection from the mother. The baby has been transferred from an oxygen tent to an incubator, and it is now able to breathe without aid. Its weight is now 41bs. 2',’ozs., compared with its weight of 31bs. Sozs. at birth.
