SOVIET MACHINE CRASHES. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] BUCHAREST, August 6. Two passengers and four of the crew were burned to death when a Soviet air liner crashed in flames near Bistritza. The aeroplane caught fire while flying from Prague to Moscow. AUSTRALIAN SCHEME. NEW YORK, August 6. The belief prevails in banking circles that Pan American Airways is one of the principal backers in the Australian inter-capital air scheme, which provides for a daily service between Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide “in order to provide a domestic link-up with the Pacific serVl< The Australian Associated Press learns that similar . rumours have been current in aviation circles on the Pacific Coast for some time. The principal officials of Pan American Airways refuse to comment, but the New York office said it was without confirmation. The National City Bank categorically denied any connection, financial or otherwise, with the enterprise. NEW YORK, August 6. Pan American Air Lines have emphatically denied that they have any connection with the, Australian an service. n The head office of the National City Bank stated: “It is unthinkable that we should be interested in an Australian line.” . The Douglas Corporation m Los Angeles stated that it had never heard of any projected AmericanAustralian air line.
