ATLANTIC TRIALS. CLIPPER LEAVES IRELAND. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] LONDON, August 6. The Pan-American Clipper has left Foynes, in Ireland, for America. She took off to-day at 4.19 a.m. OBJECT OF DAYLIGHT FLIGHT RADIO AND OTHER TESTS. (Received August 6, 11.5 p.m.) LONDON, August 6. Commander Gray of the PanAmerican Clipper says that the real object of the present daylight transAtlantic crossing is to study the working of the radio system' during daylight. “It will be necessary to work on different wavelengths,” he said. “We hope to investigate a number of things. This trip should yield valuable data. There is a patch in the mid-Atlantic that we have not yet seen, because it has hitherto been covered in darkness.”
