ON WAR FOOTING
PLANS REVEALED Australia and N.Z. fAust. &. N.Z. Cable Assn.l (Received August 6, 9.35 p.m.) CANBERRA, August 6. The Sydney Sun’s correspondent states: National security measures in Australia have been advanced by the Commonwealth Defence Council to a state where, in the event of war, the whole of the resources of the Commonwealth could be organised at a minute’s notice. The Defence Council has made a complete survey of all aspects of industrial transport and other activities, and has mapped out and co-or-dinated a plan to place the Nation on a war footing in which each section of the people will have its duties clearly defined. Sir A. Parkhill has announced that similar action has been taken by New Zealand, following on consultations that took place between Australian and New Zealand Governments last year, and also in London recently.
