Horsfall, running 220 yards, assisted the i British team to defeat the American • team in the half-mile relay, in one t minute 29.3 seconds. The American time was one minute 33.2 seconds, i The American team included the Negro, Ben Johnson, who previously won the hundred yards in 9.8 seconds, and the 220 yards in 21.7. seconds. Eighty-three thousand bank nolii day-makers attended the internation- ’ al athletic meeting at White City. One I hundred thousand saw nine first class . cricket matches. Lord Burghley, at a dinner at the i White City, declared that many - people were rather disillusioned re- . garding the League -or Nations, but i- athletes were building up something t worth while —a League of Nations of < i sport.
